Barred galaxies, their physical parameters and the case of low surface brightness galaxies.

In this talk I will give a review on the integrated properties of barred disk galaxies, concentrating on how the fraction of barred galaxies strongly depends on some of these properties, e.g. the total stellar, gas and dark matter masses and the spin parameter. As a particular case of study, I will focus on low surface brightness galaxies, which are galaxies that are are strongly dark matted dominated at all radii, embedded in dark matter haloes characterized by having a high spin parameter. I will show that the fraction of barred galaxies decreases systematically for galaxies with low stellar-to-halo mass ratios and high values of the spin parameter, indicating that this configuration prevents the formation and/or growth of bars. Finally I will confront these results with theoretical expectations.
