Chemical enrichment history of CALIFA galaxies

We use the CALIFA dataset to explore how galaxies evolve chemically in time using archaeological signatures obtained by fitting stellar spectral templates to the observed resolved spectra. These data allow us to calculate the properties of the galaxies at different points in time, which we use to probe how the mass-metallicity relation for the galaxies changed with time as well as the evolution of their metallicity as a factor of chemical enrichment by core collapse supernova versus the infall of pristine gas from the halo. We also use morphological and mass classifications to see whether galaxies with different morphological type or mass had different chemical and star formation histories.
