HII regions catalog from CALIFA's survey observations

We present a new HII regions catalog from CALIFA's survey observations. The current results are based on galaxies observed up to December 2018, comprising galaxies from the CALIFA mother sample and the extented sample. The catalog comprises more than 20000 HII regions extracted from approximately 1000 galaxies. The catalog includes information of 52 emission lines, from [OII]λ3727 to [SII]λ6731, furthermore, tables with underlying stellar population properties are include.

We develop a new python version of ionized regions identifier tool based in HIIexplorer wrote in perl. This python tool, pyHIIexplorer, is based on the contrast of the Hα intensity maps extracted from datacubes. We apply severals criteria to the initial identified ionized regions with pyHIIexplorer in order to select those are actually HII regions.

Also, we propose a new diffuse gas correction to the HII regions catalog. This new correction is based on the analysis of all regions that are located outside of HII regions. We study the effect of the diffuse gas correction in our results comparing with the uncorrected results.

Finally, we analyze the distribution of differents HII regions' physical properties in BPT diagrams, as metallicity, the ionization parameter and others. Also, we explore the dependence of the location within the diagnostic diagram on the properties of the host galaxies, the galactocentric distances and the properties of the underlying stellar population.
